Deagan Cathedral Chimes Deagan Cathedral Chimes are made of choice bell-metal, the chimes varying in diameter as per catalogue descriptions. They are a perfect imitation of Church Chimes. With the Deagan patent system of construction, the counter harmonics are made to blend with the fundamental tone of the Chimes. This eliminates discords. All Chimes are highly polished and triple plated. In all manually operated sets the diatonic scale chimes are nickel plated, semi-tones are copper plated. This greatly facilitates sight playing. Cathedral Chimes are daily coming into more universal use. Today the instrumentation of no musical organization is complete without them. In Theater Orchestras and Motion Picture Houses the demand is universal. Situations constantly arise where, if the scene is to be made impressive, they are indispensable. "Deagan Cathedral Chimes" are the only Cathedral Chimes on the market that are perfect in tune. They have been used for years, to the exclusion of all other makes, in such famous organizations as Sousa's, Pryor's, the Chicago Symphony, Chicago Grand Opera, Metropolitan Grand Opera, Walter Damrosch Orchestra, Victor Herbert, and innumerable other Famous Musical Organizations. Their deep, sonorous and solemn tone, their volume and resonance, coupled with their great accuracy of tuning, has won for the "Deagan Cathedral Chimes" a permanent place wherever Chimes are wanted for use before a critical audience. "Deagan Cathedral Chimes" are played by striking with mallet, are also equipped with check spring actions which are operated by pulling cords, or they can be electrically operated. Electrically operated Cathedral Chimes are fully described in our Catalogue "F," a copy of which will be mailed free upon request. "Deagan Cathedral Chimes" are the only chimes on the market which are perfect from a musical standpoint. This is conclusively proven by the fact that the world's leading organ builders use "Deagan Cathedral Chimes" to the exclusion of every other make. To be adaptable for organ use, Cathedral Chimes must be not only perfect in tune, but must have perfect harmonies as well. Because the tone is so long sustained, faulty tuning is, in no other instrument, so quickly discernible as in Cathedral Chimes. If the tuning is even slightly faulty they instantly become offensive to the critical ear. In tuning the "Deagan Cathedral Chimes" the most minute accuracy is observed, and no chime is permitted to leave the factory until it has been put to the severest test thirty years of experience in the construction of instruments of the highest grade has been able to devise. Because of the extreme care and accuracy governing their construction, "Deagan Cathedral Chimes" have become the standard of the world and are the only Cathedral Chimes manufactured today which are adapted to artistic musical use. A trial will convince the most skeptical. Source: Deagan Catalog I |
